Jadon Sancho Rescues Man U in Leeds Nailbiter

Manchester United coach, Erik ten Hag, must be thanking his lucky stars that he subbed in Jadon Sancho during their 2-2 draw against Leeds United on Wednesday night, 8 February.

The Old Trafford crowd looked rightfully nervous as Leeds’ Wilfried Gnonto scored a goal within the first minute of gameplay, setting the tone for the first half and leaving United with only the briefest respite at the half-time whistle.

Although the hosts enjoyed the greater share of possession for most of the match, it came back to bite them as defender Raphael Varane backpedalled the ball into his own goal three minutes after the break, putting the Whites two goals ahead.

Marcus Rashford managed to pull one back for the Red Devils as 62-minutes elapsed on the clock, easing some of the pressure and bringing the hosts back into the game.

A moment later, Ten Hag decided it was time for Sancho to make his comeback after several months of training; the substitution paid off as the talented forward levelled the scoreboard at the 70th-minute mark by slipping the ball past Leeds goalkeeper, Illan Meslier.

The final result means Manchester United remain in third place on the English Premier League table with 43 points, just two points behind Manchester City. Table leaders Arsenal are sitting pretty with 50 points.
